Forest Fires & Fire Ban

The Fire Danger Rating for the Township remains at EXTREME and a TOTAL FIRE BAN is in place. Additionally, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has imposed a Restricted Fire Zone for the region. This Total Fire Ban means:

NO FIRES, NO FIREWORKS, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Parry Sound 33 is a forest fire reaching over 90 square km in size, active and burning in the Key, French and Pickerel River areas. This is the nearest, active forest fire in the area and while it is not yet under control, it is well outside the Township boundaries. However, it is important for residents and recreational visitors to Crane Lake to remain vigilant and cautious to prevent possible future fires.  There was a small fire on Crane Lake on the weekend of July 22nd. In this case, we were fortunate that the fire was controlled quickly by the Seguin Fire Department. Preventing any future sparks or errant flames is crucial.

Please - no open fires of any kind, at any time during this Total Fire Ban. For more information, please click here
