2024 Waste Newsletter

The Township has released their 2024 South Archipelago Waste Newsletter, with updates on the Transfer Stations for Crane Lake, Healey Lake, and more!

Please take a moment to read the Newsletter, with some highlights including:

  • 2024 Hours of Operation are in the Newsletter on Page 3

  • Residents are to sort household garbage and recycling prior to arriving at the facility

  • Residents can bring up to 2 cubic yards of waste, once annually, free of charge to appropriate facilities. Waste beyond this will be subject to the prevailing tipping fee.

  • A $30 freon removal fee will be charged for items like fridges, freezers, air conditioners, etc.

  • The Township’s Waste By-Law (2022-08) has been updated, with more information on the Waste & Recycling portion of the website.

  • Payment methods available to residents and contractors are PayPal (via QR Code), Waste Tags, and a debit terminal (Site 9 only). Cash is no longer accepted for fee items. If using Pay Pal, the Township recommends downloading the PayPal app and creating an account before attending the transfer station. Waste Tags are $2.50 per tag and available for advance purchase at the Township Office, Holiday Cove Marina, and Site 9.

  • 20 Food Cyclers remain available for purchase at the Township Office. In 2023, this program and its 280 units resulted in 92 tonnes of organic waste being diverted from the landfill!.

  • All users of the Township’s recycling and waste disposal facilities must present a waste disposal card to the attendant. If you are a new owner of property in the Township and require a card, or require a replacement card, please call the Township Office at 705-746-4243 Ext. 338 or visit the Service Request website.
