We look forward to seeing all sailors out for this years’ sailing regatta.

The races will be in the central part of the lake, beginning at 2PM on Sunday July 31st, 2022.

As you may know, we are now running two races – the usual Championship race, and a Junior Championship race for our up-and-coming sailors (those under 18).

2022 Sailing Regatta Registration

To help with the planning and logistics for the event, we request sailors please pre-register with me by email to CLA.Steve1@gmail.com. Please provide:

• Your cottage address

• The sailing vessel model

• The captain’s name

• If under 18 and preference to sail in the Junior Championship race, please indicate so

• Any crewmate’s names

• A contact phone (preferred) and/or email to be used on Sunday, July 31st to notify of any change to the race schedule

Volunteers Needed

We also have a few volunteer opportunities for this event:

Race Commodore

• Start the race and note the time

• Ensure all sailors have properly crossed the starting line

• Track the time each of the sailors crosses the finish line

The volunteer for this position will need to come equipped with:

• A motor boat with standard safety gear

• Their pleasure craft operator’s card

• A time-telling device accurate to the second (e.g. watch)

• An anchor with 30m (100’) or more of rope (attached)

• Skill enough to be able to anchor their vessel under windy conditions and to a depth of up to 15m (50’)

Buoy Monitor

• Ensure the sailing vessels go around the buoys the correct way

  • Buoys to starboard if the race course goes in a clockwise direction

  • Buoys to port if the race course goes in a counter-clockwise direction

• Ensure sailing vessels do not touch the buoys
