Fire Notification List

Fire Notification List

To all Crane Lake Cottagers:

We’ve extended the deadline to May 31, 2023, to sign up to be on the new Crane Lake “Fire Notification List” (launched on March 20, 2023). Please read the full article by clicking here or the button below so you fully understand this functionality and click here to complete the form if you wish to sign up for notifications. Highlights of this process are:

  • When a call is placed to 911 for a fire incident on Crane Lake, Seguin Township Fire Department is alerted. At the same time, a notification goes out to all people who are on the “Fire Notification List”. This allows quick response of Crane Lake volunteers or just cottagers who want to help, assuming they are on the lake at the time of an incident.

  • If you were previously receiving text notifications of fire incidents on Crane Lake (up to 2022), we need you to sign up again.

  • You now have a choice of being notified by either text or by e-mail. There are 100 spaces for each for a total capability of 200 individual people being notified.

  • This notification does not replace the professional fire response by the volunteers of the Seguin Fire department. However, as the live fire incident on Crane Lake last summer showed, the sooner that water is being put on a fire, the better. It will reduce the potential for damage caused by a fire, and in some cases the fire can be extinguished before the professionals arrive, or at least, the spread of the fire to neighbouring cottages or the forest can be slowed or stopped.

If after reading the article above you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me on my e-mail or cell number.
Best regards and cheers,
Bruce
