Fire Safety Committee Update - 2020 Season End

Fire Safety Committee Update - 2020 Season End

An update from the Fire Safety Committee:

AEDs

The AEDs have been removed from the pump boxes on the lake and also shortly from the Fireboat.  Two of them will be kept in heated cottages on Crane Lake for the winter and accessible for snowmobilers.  One is at 490 Blackstone Crane Lake Rd in Van Koughnetts Bay.  Contact John Raftis – cell number 519-323-6312.  The other is at 14 Crane Country Rd, just west of the marina.  Contact Brad Billings – cell number 519-766-8342.

Portable Fire Pumps

All the portable Fire Pumps have now been winterized (tested, drained and half filled with plumbing anti-freeze).  If you need to use one, please go ahead as they are still operational.  However, after returning it to its proper location, please half fill it again with plumbing anti-freeze from the jug located in the pump box.  As usual, the pump from the Camp Point location will be moved to the sled in the Snowmobile shed to be ready for winter use if required.

Fire Boat

This winter we will be storing the Fire Boat with Rosseau Road Powersports & Marine.  I will be prepping the boat for storage shortly / winterizing the pump and then arranging for it to be taken out of the water around the beginning of November.

If you have a fire emergency, dial 911 and they will dispatch Seguin Fire Department who will arrive by water (they have their own boat).  A Crane Lake cottager may also respond if they happen to be at the lake when the call comes in.

Hazard Marker Buoys

The 3 yellow Hazard Market Buoys deployed by the Crane Lake Association (Bump Rock, Overflow Bay and near the Second Narrows) will be removed for the winter in the next couple of days.  Please take extra caution in these areas if you don’t know exactly where the hazards lie.

Have a safe and enjoyable Fall and Winter and we hope to see you all again in the Spring.

Cheers,

Bruce
